How the Florida Paycheck Calculator Works
In fact, Florida is one of the few states with no personal income tax. Therefore, your paycheck has only three main taxes, and all of them are federal.
Firstly, it applies the 2026 IRS brackets after the standard deduction.
Then it takes 6.2% for Social Security and 1.45% for Medicare.
Finally, it subtracts 401(k) and pre-tax benefits from your pay.
The formula
Net pay = Gross pay − federal tax − 7.65% FICA − 401(k) − benefits

Federal Tax Brackets for 2026
Federal income tax uses brackets, so each slice of income is taxed at its own rate. For single filers in 2026, the rates are 10% up to $12,400 and 12% up to $50,400. After that, 22% applies up to $105,700, then 24%, 32%, 35% and 37% at the top. Also, the standard deduction is $16,100 for single filers, $32,200 for married couples and $24,150 for heads of household, according to the IRS.
Social Security and Medicare
Overall, these two are called FICA taxes, and they total 7.65% of most paychecks. Social Security is 6.2% on wages up to $184,500 in 2026, while Medicare is 1.45% on all wages. In addition, an extra 0.9% Medicare tax applies to wages over $200,000.
Pre-Tax Deductions That Raise Your Pay
- 401(k): for instance, contributions lower your federal income tax, although FICA still applies to them.
- Health, dental and vision: similarly, Section 125 benefits lower both income tax and FICA.
