What is a random number generator?
A random number generator picks numbers with no pattern, so every number in your range has the same chance of appearing. People use it to roll dice, draw raffle winners, choose lottery numbers and pick samples. You can read more about random number generation on Wikipedia. Need other quick tools? How the random number generator creates numbers
Simple programs often use a formula that only looks random, called pseudo-random. This page asks your browser’s secure crypto.getRandomValues function for its numbers, which draws on unpredictable data from your device. That makes the results hard to guess or repeat.

Random number generator FAQ
Is this random number generator truly random?
It uses your browser's built-in secure random source, which is far better than a simple formula. The results are unpredictable and suitable for games, draws and everyday choices, but not for security keys.
Can I generate numbers without repeats?
Yes. Set the duplicates option to Unique and each number will appear only once, which is useful for lottery picks and raffles. You can't ask for more unique numbers than the range holds.
Can I use it for a giveaway or lottery?
Yes. Number your entries, set the range from the first to the last number and pick one unique winner. For a lottery, choose six unique numbers from 1 to 49 with the quick button.
How do I generate decimal numbers?
Set Decimal places to 1 or more. For example, a range of 0 to 1 with 2 decimal places gives numbers like 0.37 or 0.84.
